How You Can Help

There are many ways you can assist us in our efforts aside from making a personal donation. We are always interested in novel ways to aid and support our Guyanese community and fully encourage those with an entrepreneurial and philanthropic spirit to bring project ideas to us. For those whose time and economic resources are elsewhere engaged, we ask you to please consider supporting Guyana America Partners by doing one or more of the following:

1. Follow us on Social Media

Sharing our news and activities online is becoming more necessary for us to reach individuals, businesses and communities. Any help that you could provide would be invaluable to help us with this work. Our social media channels are monitored regularly so please join us online and help us spread the word about our work in Guyana. You can also share one or more of our graphic memes online with a view to providing our organization with greater brand recognition and reach. 3. Organize a Fundraising Event

Fundraising is a great way to have fun, meet new people and importantly raise funds and awareness for Guyana America Partners. It can also raise your profile, engage with employees/members and build morale within your networks. Whether you’re involved with a school, small business, a group of friends or an individual, organizing a fundraising event has never been easier.

Please contact us so that we can provide support and advice to ensure you’re maximizing the opportunity and to help promote it through our social media channels. Dress down days, bake sales and sponsored activities are very popular within businesses especially when linked to major events, holidays etc. and often your employer may consider matched funding.

4. Have Gifts Donated in Your Name

For every purpose and occasion, charity is the perfect gift. Please consider making a donation in a friend, family member, client or colleague’s name to Guyana America Partners. If you know you’re going to be the recipient of pending gifts, like a retirement, birthday, or seasonal celebration, you could also ask that gifts be donated to Guyana America Partners in your name. Two Guyanese ex-pats raised over $4,000 for us in lieu of gifts for their birthdays in 2015 and 2016.

5. Leave a Gift in Your Will

Leaving a gift in your will allows us to continue to support those who most need it. Including us in your future plans will educate further generations long after you pass. We recommend speaking to a lawyer to arrange or change your will to include Guyana America Partners. There are a variety of different types of legacy that you can make. Your lawyer will be able to provide more detail but a brief summary can be found below:

A residuary legacy is the remainder of your estate (or a percentage of it) after gifts to family, friends, other causes, funeral expenses and other outgoings have been distributed. This is particularly valuable to us because it protects against inflation.

A pecuniary legacy is a fixed amount that you wish to gift to us. However, it will significantly lose it’s value over time due to inflation.

A specific legacy is a named gift. You do not have to inform us if you are leaving a legacy, but it would be helpful to assist with our planning. All information will be kept confidential.

Don’t hesitate to contact us if you can be of assistance in our ongoing objective of educating children and empowering women in rural Guyana.
